THe Alexander House

the story

PLEASANTON GOODS was created in my home in 2013. As a wife and a mother of three, I wanted a job and needed a creative outlet. I also needed a job that would accommodate the time I had to dedicate to my twin boys with Autism and Epilepsy. Doctor and therapist appointments, emergency calls from school, and the days when one of the boys just couldn’t do school at all, were weekly occurrences that I had to take into account.

So, I taught myself how to make soap, candles, and body products. Through lots of trial and error, I created a successful line that enabled me to open a small shop on Main St. in Paris, KY. Within a year, I moved to a bigger shop. And in 2015, I purchased and renovated the Alexander House, also on Main St. in Paris, KY.

As the universe often does, it spoke to me. I knew at the time of purchase the unique history of the Alexander House. It was built in 1790 by William Alexander, an early Hemp Plantation owner in Bourbon County, Kentucky. At the time, early and mid 1800’s, Kentucky was #1 in the world for the production of Hemp. This home was built by the enslaved people from that plantation.

Although aware of this rich history, it was not in the business plan to exploit it. Until Nature’s Rhythm came to the door. Nature’s Rhythm is a local, Paris company that produces CBD products. Their line of products are purely locally grown and processed superior CBD products.

With the addition of Nature’s Rhythm, Pleasanton Goods has grown into our history and is honored to be celebrating and continuing the legacy of Hemp in Kentucky. Hemp truly has been and still is the Work Horse of Kentucky.
